Bio

I've been writing and submitting short fiction since 2001 and in 2005 I attended the Clarion West Writers Workshop. I try to write more than I sleep, with mixed results. I'm a member of several professional writing groups, including Fangs of God (online) and Altered Fluid (local).

I often write contemporary fantasy stories (magical realism? slipstream? urban fantasy?), with a focus on short fiction, but I've just completed my first novel: a YA sf/fantasy called Fair Coin. I'm currently writing the sequel, Quantum Coin.

When I'm not working on my own fiction, I am usually critiquing my friends' manuscripts. I also help read submissions for the horror portion of Year's Best Fantasy and Horror (edited by Ellen Datlow, Kelly Link, and Gavin Grant); edit the Clarion West alumni newsletter, The Seventh Week; co-moderate the GothamLit listserv*; and function as an assistant editor for Sybil's Garage (which will be open to submissions from September 8, 2008 - November 30, 2008).

To find out way more than anyone should need to know about me, you can read my LiveJournal or e-mail me.

*If you have a speculative fiction literary event to promote in the NYC area, please post it to the GothamLit group or send me an email.
